PTSA Executive Board Position Descriptions
Co-Presidents: A one to two year commitment dedicated to building a strong PTSA. Experience with PTSA goals, organization and procedure is an advantage. One Co-President should be beginning a second year as a new Co is elected to ensure continuity. They are active, supportive leaders who preside at all Executive Committee and membership meetings, keep the membership well informed and focused on the PTSA mission. They keep in close contact with school administration to ensure that the PTSA/s and school's goals correspond. And head up the board committees for Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator Awards, E-Newsletter, and Volunteer Coordinator.
Secretary: A one to two year commitment dedicated to building a strong PTSA. Attends and keeps minutes at all meetings. May be asked to assist with composing and typing outgoing mail. Files and keeps copies of all minutes, correspondence, committee reports, newsletters, and meeting notices.
Treasurer: A one to two year commitment dedicated to building a strong PTSA. Keeps accurate financial records of all funds received and disbursed. Submits a written monthly report at each PTSA meeting. Deposits funds received into the PTSA bank account. Pays by check only, all financial obligations of the PTSA, as authorized by the board. Preserves and maintains all vouchers, receipts, bank statements, and canceled checks. Plays a major role in planning future year's budget and monitors use of current budget funds.
Co-VP Legislation: A one to two year commitment dedicated to building a strong PTSA. Ideally one Co-VP should be beginning a second year as a new Co is elected to ensure continuity. Keeps track of and informs membership about legislative activity that effects the education and welfare of children and youth. Surveys the membership regarding Washington State PTA's legislative priorities for the year. Represents Einstein at WSPTA's annual legislative Assembly where the legislative platform is voted and adopted for the current year
Co-VP Ways and Means: A one to two year commitment dedicated to building a strong PTSA. Ideally one Co-VP should be beginning a second year as a new Co is elected to ensure continuity. Heads up the board committees for "Pass-the-Hat" Einstein PTSA's main fundraiser of the year, Book Fair, PTSA Student Directory, Membership and any other fundraising activities as approved by the Executive Board.
Co-VP Public Affairs: A one to two year commitment dedicated to building a strong PTSA. Ideally one Co-VP should be beginning a second year as a new Co is elected to ensure continuity. Heads up the board committees for Family Services, Staff Appreciation and Levy Communications.
Co-VP Student Affairs: A one to two year commitment dedicated to building a strong PTSA. Idealy one Co-VP should be beginning a second year as a new Co is elected to ensure continuity. Heads up board committees for Eighth Grade Party, Health Screening, Reflections, Dance/Social Committee, Student of the Trimester, and Sports Recognition.
Board Committees
Board Committee Chairs and members are directed by the respective Executive Board VP's of Ways and Means, Public Affairs, Student Affairs and Co-Presidents. Instruction on individual committe responsibilities comes from VPs, written material and committee notebooks that are maintainted and updated by the committee Chairs. Depending on the committee you choose to volunteer for the responsibilities can be done by email, phone, at home, or at school. There are volunteer opportunities for everyone!
Tutoring Program
Volunteers are needed to tutor Einstein students at lunchtime and after school. Volunteers need not be experts in any subject. Volunteers will help kids stay on task, keep them motivated and encourage them to problem solve. We ask that volunteers sign up for a once a week time slot.Lunch tutoring time are: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 11:05 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday 11:50 a.m.- 1:15 p.m. After school tutoring times are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Contact tutoring@einsteinmiddleschoolptsa.org if you are interested in tutoring students at Einstein.
